The bank verification bio-metric data capture is a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) mandate which directed all account holders in any Nigerian bank to register and be issued a Bank Verification Number (BVN) as well as a Verification Card which banks can use to fully identify their customers and for KYC purposes.
This exercise have been around for over a year, it was earlier scheduled to end by July 31st, but due to the large number of unregistered customers, the registration was further extended to October 31st, 2015.
It is a norm in this part of the world to hurry up only at the eleventh hour, that was why banks witnessed a large crowd of customers waiting to be captured. As a result of the rush towards the earlier dead line, the CBN had no choice but to post-pone the exercise.
Once again we are down to another deadline which is only ONE day from today. A lot of jingles and enlightenment campaign has been embarked on in Radio, Television and social media on the need to get registered before the deadline.
It should be noted that when this policy is fully implemented, customers without the number may not be attended to and can also restrict them from accessing other bank channels.
If you are yet to register, it is only ten day left, why wait for the last day for another rush hour. Get registered!
