HOW TO OPEN AN NGO ACCOUNT IN NIGERIAN BANKS

Non-governmental Organizations are non-profit organizations whose activities are usually towards charity. They get most of their funding from donations and government grants. As a result of the nature of the NGO, operating a bank account makes it easy to accept donations and perform their duties financially.

NGOs maybe registered before operating a bank account in Nigeria, this class of account is a tier three account and it is a current account.

The following  requirements are needed before opening an account for NGOs in Nigeria:

  1. Duly completed Account Opening Form Mandate Cards
  2. Certified True Copy of Certificate of Registration Operating Instruction
  3. 2 Passport Photograph of each Signatory
  4. Valid Identification of Signatories
  5. Valid Utility bill-Not exceeding 3 months (PHCN, LAWMA, Water Corporation, tenancy agreement, tenement rate)
  6. Constitution of the club/society
  7. Resident Permit(for Non-Nigerians)
  8. Minutes of meeting which specify where the Account should be opened
  9. Certified True Copy of Particulars of Trustees(If Applicable)
  10. Bio Data form: Know Your Customer Requirement
  11. Board of Trustees Resolution to open account
  12. 2 Reference Forms Power of Attorney (where applicable)
  13. Search Report (If Registered- conducted by the bank)
  14. Evidence of SCUML registration (where applicable)
