7,000 Applicants Makes It To 2nd Stage In BoI YES Programme

The seven-man panel that screened the business proposals from 40,000 candidates that applied for the Bank of Industry (BoI) N10 billion Youths Entrepreneurship Support (YES) programme has successfully vetted 7,000 applicants which is 17.5% of the total number of applicants.

In a mail sent out to the 7,000 successful candidates on Saturday, the lucky first stage winners are told to prepare for the second stage of the competition which is scheduled to kick-off on the 13th of June, 2016 and they will be required to attend a 3-month online training that will further improve their business skills, enable them develop an effective business model and prepare them to access the Bank of Industry loan.

The online course is intensive and will require commitment as only 70% of those from this stage will proceed to the one week in-class training before being absorbed into the BOI pipeline as preferred applicants for the loan.

Successful candidates are further advised to check their registered email account and the YES-P website for program updates regularly which is of great importance.

The YES Programme is an initiative of the federal government and the Bank of Industry to tackling unemployment in the country which is expected to generate 36,000 jobs for the nation. The YES Programme is also part of the federal government’s drive and wealth creation programme which is aimed at addressing the malaise of youth unemployment.

The programme is targeted at young aspiring entrepreneurs within the age range of 18-35 years, who have a minimum educational qualification of Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or its equivalents.
