AFCON 2019: Mikel Obi, others named in Super Eagles Provisional Squad – Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has named Mikel Obi in the Eagles provisional squad for the 2019 nations cup despite not taking part in any of the qualifying games for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mikel who has not played for Nigeria since the 2-1 lost to Argentina last June in Russia joins Ahmed Musa and 23 others in the squad to prepare for the Nations Cup.
Goalkeepers on the list are Francis Uzoho, Ikechuckwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi.
Defenders are Kenneth Omeruo, Shehu Abdulahi, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Jamilu Collins, Semi Ajayi and Ola Aina.
Other midfielders are Mikel Obi, Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo and John Ogu.
Forwards are Vioctor Osimhen, Moses Simon, Odion Ighalo, Henry Onyekuru, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Kalu, Paul Onuachu, Kelechi Iheanacho and Samuel Chukwueze.
