NDE trains 100 Ekiti youths in agriculture – The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has begun the training of 100 youths in Ekiti State in agriculture under the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS).
At the kic- off of the training in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, the Coordinator, Mr Alao Babatunde said that the scheme was aimed at creating job for the unemployed youths .
Babatunde stated that participants who were drawn from across the three senatorial districts were to acquire skills to be self-employed rather than waiting for white collar jobs.
He said the trainees would be tutored in crop farming and livestock production, marketing, entrepreneurial training and business plan preparation.
Babatunde said the duration of the training by resource persons was for three months, but that it would begin a three-week intensive theory aspect before the practical aspects through experimental farm set up for the programme.

The Coordinator said the programme was in line with Federal Government ’s policy on agriculture for employment and wealth creation,
He said the scheme will afford teeming unemployed youths to embrace farming as a means of livelihood, urging trainees to beof good conduct in the course of the training .
“You are expected to use this opportunity to launch into being entrepreneurs and employers of labour. See yourself in a better light as from today”

“Don’t joke with these training. They will help you become self-reliant and useful economically. As you are empowered, you stand the chance of equally empowering others. Your future is now. Don’t waste it on frivolities, “he said.
