JAMB 2023: A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Register for UTME – If you’re a Nigerian student aspiring to gain admission into a tertiary institution, you’re probably familiar with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). JAMB is the regulatory body responsible for conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which serves as the standard entrance examination for most universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Nigeria. If you’re planning to take the JAMB exam in 2023, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to register.

Step 1: Create a Profile on the JAMB Portal

To register for JAMB 2023, you need to create a profile on the JAMB portal. Visit the official JAMB website at www.jamb.gov.ng and click on the “Create e-Facility Account/Log in” button. Provide your valid email address, password, and other required details. Once you’ve filled in the necessary information, click on “Verify e-Mail” to verify your email address. You will receive a confirmation link in your email inbox. Click on the link to verify your email address and complete the profile creation process.

Step 2: Purchase the JAMB e-PIN

After creating your profile, you need to purchase the JAMB e-PIN, which is a unique 10-digit number that serves as your registration PIN. The e-PIN can be obtained from any authorized JAMB registration center, commercial bank, or online through the JAMB portal. To purchase the e-PIN, visit any of the designated banks or JAMB offices, provide your JAMB profile code (generated during profile creation), and pay the required fee. The bank or JAMB office will provide you with the e-PIN after payment.

Step 3: Complete the Registration Form

Once you have your JAMB e-PIN, go back to the JAMB portal and click on the “Login” button to access your profile. Enter your email address and password, then click on “Login.” On the next page, click on “UTME Registration” to start the registration process. Fill in the required information, including your personal details, choice of examination center, preferred course of study, and more. Upload a passport-sized photograph with a white background and your biometric data (fingerprint). Review the information you provided and click on “Submit” to proceed.

Step 4: Print Your JAMB Slip

After submitting your registration form, you will be redirected to a page where you can print your JAMB slip. The slip contains important information such as your examination date, time, and venue. Make sure to print multiple copies of the slip as you will need it for various purposes, including examination day.

Step 5: Pay JAMB Exam Fee

To complete your registration, you need to pay the JAMB examination fee. The current JAMB examination fee for UTME is N3,500, and an additional N500 is charged for the mandatory reading text. You can pay the examination fee online using your ATM card or at any authorized bank or JAMB office. To pay online, simply log in to your JAMB profile, click on “UTME Registration,” and select the payment option. Follow the instructions to make payment and obtain your payment receipt.

Step 6: Attend the Biometric Verification

As part of the registration process, you are required to undergo biometric verification. This involves capturing your fingerprint and photograph at a designated JAMB registration center. You will receive a notification via email and SMS indicating the date, time, and venue for your biometric verification. Make sure to arrive at the designated center on the scheduled date and time with your Jamb registration slip.
