Sanwo Olu presents Lagos' first fleet of electric buses

News Summary:

  • Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu unveiled the state’s first fleet of electric buses, which can travel 280 kilometers on a single charge.
  • These buses will reduce pollution and offer efficient, low-priced transportation to Lagos residents.
  • A trial program will be launched in the coming months to analyze operational efficiency compared to existing BRT buses.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has unveiled the state’s initial fleet of electric buses.

On Sunday, Sanwo-Olu made the announcement on Twitter and posted photos of the buses.

As part of an endeavour to modernise every facet of Lagos, he wrote in part, “I am excited to announce the first set of electric buses in the Lagos Mass Transit Master Plan.”

Our electric buses are revolutionary because they can go 280 kilometres on a single charge, which is crucial when considering the very long commutes in Lagos. Existing BRTs cover an average of 200 kilometres per day, so passengers need not worry about the buses stopping unexpectedly.

New electric buses will cut down on pollution and save time and money. Now, residents of Lagos can say “adios” to high fuel prices and “hola” to efficient, low-priced transportation.

In order to improve our public transport service, we want to launch a trial programme over the next few months to collect the necessary data for analysing operational efficiency in comparison to our current BRT buses.
