United Bank for Africa (UBA) has officially launched Season 5 of its Super Savers Promo, a nine-month campaign running from September 2025 to May 2026 that offers customers over N150 million in cash prizes and rewards. The initiative, themed “Season of Progress,” represents UBA’s most ambitious savings reward program to date, targeting approximately 1,500 customers across all Nigerian regions.
The promo comes at a crucial time when Nigeria’s financial inclusion rate stands at 64.1%, falling short of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s 80% target for 2020. Current data shows 52% of Nigerian adults now have formal bank accounts, representing 110.9 million people, while 102.1 million remain unbanked. This initiative directly addresses the CBN’s continued push for financial inclusion, particularly as Nigeria recorded a 52% level of bank-based financial inclusion in 2023.
UBA’s Group Deputy Managing Director Chukwuma Nweke emphasized the importance of savings in nation-building, stating that the campaign aims to deepen savings culture among Nigerians while promoting financial independence. The timing coincides with Nigeria’s challenging economic environment, where inflation reached historic levels of 33.69% as of April 2024, making structured savings programs more critical than ever.
Qualification Requirements and Prize Structure
The promo features multiple entry categories designed to capture different customer segments. Customers can qualify with as little as N5,000 monthly deposits in UBA Bumper Accounts, while other savings products require N10,000. Dormant account holders can reactivate their accounts with N10,000 deposits to participate in special monthly N35,000 reactivation draws.
The comprehensive reward structure includes quarterly star prizes of N1 million for 27 winners throughout the campaign period. Additional prizes range from N500,000, N250,000, N100,000, N50,000, to N10,000, plus monthly airtime bonuses for hundreds of customers. Young savers aren’t excluded, with Kiddies, Teens, and NextGen accounts offering prizes up to N200,000 to encourage early financial literacy.
UBA has introduced improved accessibility through a new digital onboarding platform, allowing customers to open accounts online in real-time without visiting branches. This digital-first approach aligns with broader industry trends, as physical bank branches witness footfall decline while customers prefer social media platform interactions.
The bank’s digital transformation has shown significant results, with UBA achieving a user experience score of 94.4 in digital banking satisfaction surveys, ranking second among Nigerian banks. Recent platform redesigns focused on data-lite modes for budget-conscious users and transparent pricing structures, contributing to 40% reduction in onboarding drop-offs and sharp engagement increases from low-income users.
Regulatory Oversight and Transparency Measures
To ensure credibility and fairness, all draws will be conducted live with oversight from the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and Lagos State Lottery & Gaming Authority. This regulatory supervision addresses concerns about promotional scheme transparency, particularly given recent EFCC warnings about fraudulent promo scams targeting Nigerian consumers.
UBA’s Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Alero Ladipo emphasized that the promo extends beyond prize distribution, stating it represents the bank’s mission to provide innovative solutions and create opportunities for diverse customer bases while helping Nigerians save, grow, and achieve financial goals.
Since launching savings promos, UBA has created over 1,500 winners through initiatives designed to reward loyalty while encouraging healthy saving habits. Last year’s 75th anniversary celebration promo distributed approximately N150 million in prizes, demonstrating the bank’s commitment to customer rewards and financial inclusion advancement.
Regional banking penetration data shows significant variations across Nigeria, with Lagos achieving 91% banking penetration while states like Borno record only 13%. This geographic disparity underscores the importance of UBA’s nationwide activation plans across markets, campuses, and rural communities in all Nigerian states.
The Super Savers Promo Season 5 represents more than a promotional campaign; it embodies UBA’s strategic commitment to bridging Nigeria’s financial inclusion gap while providing tangible benefits to customers navigating challenging economic conditions. With regulatory oversight ensuring transparency and digital innovations improving accessibility, this initiative positions UBA at the forefront of Nigeria’s financial inclusion advancement efforts.
