MMM Nigeria: Was Sergy Mavrodi Really Behind The Open Letter To Nigerian Government?

mmm
mmm

Yesterday an open letter allegedly written by founder of MMM Global, Sergy Mavrodi to the Nigerian government making his case in favor of MMM went viral across major media platforms, predominantly the social media and online news platforms.  But before the said letter found its way through the social media, the letter was first published in the Personal Office of its members below:

The letter was reproduced and circulated across all MMM community whatsapp groups, facebook groups and other social Networks. Just like a little fire on a small forest, it got leaked to the media, and without due diligence and reconfirmation, the media feasted on it like a hungry lion, afterall any news about MMM is good for business. But while surfing across major social media platform for Sergy Mavrodi’s official accounts, at least if the said letter is really penned down by him, there would be per harps a mention of it.

A search on facebook for the Russian MMM founder produced no meaningful results as the name has suffered proliferation and impersonation across all countries MMM operates, every group, community and country have their own “Sergy Mavrodi” version of facebook page, so its really hard to figure out his official facebook page.

Then a search on twitter found a likely official account for  the MMM founder below:

The last tweet via the account was made on the 12th of November; last month. Unsurprisingly, most of the tweets via the handles were made in the Russian language and scrolling the timeline, there was no mention of the purported letter. In fact, Mavrodi obviously didn’t care too much about his Nigerian fans to give them a mention.

So it begs the question, did the letter originate from Mavrodi’s pen?

How CBN, SEC and NDIC Gave free publicity to MMM

The first time i heard about MMM was mid September when the CBN issued a warning to Nigerians of online fraudsters in the capital market, this was closely followed by another warning from Security and Exchange Commission (SEC). These warnings was supposed to kill the Ponzi scheme at infancy but it worked in favor of MMM, many people became aware of its existence and a little time is all they needed to forget about all the warnings, October was a big boom for the MMM community, thanks to the Nigerian house of representative threatening an investigation into the scheme. Ever since the many gains MMM made from the free publicity, the media again embarked on a campaign to demonize the Ponzi scheme which did some damage to the growing community.

MMM Nigeria countered the media trial  when it donated relief materials worth over 5 million to IDPs  in October. But since then, the already shaky reputation of MMM has suffered plenty blows; the website of Ultimate Cycler; the other reigning ponzi scheme crashed and sent panic waves to MMMers.

The content of the letter preaches hate

A letter from Sergy Mavrodi will likely seek a legal recognition from the Nigerian government in order to operate legally in the country, but a careful look at the letter reveals a message of hate orchestrated to turn Nigerians against the government. Mavrodi is a businessman and he will gain little or nothing by provoking Nigerian government.

Who then wrote the letter?

MMM Nigeria promoters are brilliant to a fault the way PR activities has been carried out in projecting MMM as a savior in a time of economic downturn, it is no surprising to conclude that the same PR agents that masterminded the charity works are also behind the letter just to continue to be in the news.
